FETA MOUSSE

Feta Mouse is a yummy dip I made up last summer. It’s basically whipped feta with lemon and thyme and it’s the perfect refreshing dip for a warm weather day. I serve it with grilled pita triangles and add it to mezze platters whenever a variety of dips is called for. I’ve also used it to top appetizers and spread on grilled bread as a light spread.

As you’ll see in the recipe, making this is incredibly easy and a lot of fun. This versatile feta preparation is sure to please everyone this summer. Let us know how you enjoy it!

Feta Mousse

This is a fun way to prepare feta and make it lighter and spreadable. This way it can enjoyed on pita, spread onto toast, or used for appetizers. Today we are enjoying it straight up on freshly grilled pita – it’s perfection!

  • 1 cup feta

  • Zest from 1 lemon

  • 5 to 6 sprigs of fresh thyme

  • Fresh pepper

  • Oregano

  • 1/3 cup fresh buttermilk

  • Freshly grilled pita for serving

  1. To a large bowl add the feta, lemon zest, fresh thyme, pepper and oregano.

  2. Add the buttermilk and use a hand mixer to combine the mixture until it is combined and fluffy. This will take several minutes so keep working it.

  3. Transfer the feta to a dish or bowl.

  4. Grill the pita and cut it into triangles.

  5. Serve the feta and enjoy!
