We spend a lot of time in the backyard in the summer. Having friends over to grill and enjoy the pool is one of our favorite ways to entertain. This means we grill a lot of burgers and this Fig Jam & Goat Cheese Burger is one of our favorite recipes. I came to this recipe when I was trying to think of a new riff on a regular cheeseburger. Sometimes we all want a little change without having to get overly complicated.

This burger begins with a regular beef patty, then it’s layered with fig jam, arugula, goat cheese, and freshly caramelized onions on top. The brilliance of this combination is that it’s the perfect combination of sweet and tart. I love how the fig jam and caramelized onions contrast with the tangy goat cheese. The arugula adds nice texture and it’s all wrapped up in a buttery brioche bun.

I like to serve these with homemade French fries and a salad on the side. Then I have plenty of cold beers and light cocktails for everyone around the table. These are the best kind of meals because they feel slightly elevated without a lot of extra effort. The longest part is making the caramelized onions, which you can do in advance and keep in the fridge until you’re ready to use them.

When it comes to summer entertaining, I’m a big fan of elevating the classics. It’s a nice way to show your friends that you’re thinking of them and making an extra effort when they come by. Of course, you can also make these delicious burgers for your family when you’re all hanging out. My entire family loves these.

Enjoy this new way to grill your favorite burger once summer hits. A beautiful Fig Jam & Goat Cheese Burger is the thing for your next summer barbecue. I’m so glad summer is just around the corner!
