Nikki’s Top 10 Kitchen Items

You see me cook a lot on YouTube, but do you pay attention to the utensils I use over and over?

Probably not! Today I’m sharing my top 10 favorite kitchen utensils with you in case you are stocking

your kitchen, or looking to pare down your kitchen and only keep what you really need. These are the

exact items I turn to daily to make our family meals.

Nikki’s Top 10 Kitchen items

  1. Whisk: Always the best for marinades, dressings, sauces, and whipped cream.

  2. Sharp Knife: A Chef’s knife is my preferred size because I can use it for everything from mincing herbs to cubing meat. Be sure to sharpen your knife regularly!

  3. Cutting Board: I have a small cabinet of cutting boards because I use multiple for day. Be sure to wash them well after each use.

  4. Spatula: Heatproof spatulas are key in the kitchen. I recommend having two or three on hand.

  5. Rubber Tipped Metal Tongs & Plain Metal Tongs: I use tongs for everything from picking up noodles to flipping food on the grill. Rubber tipped tongs are for items that are not hot, like salads and room temperature foods. Use the plain metal tongs for anything hot.

  6. Skillet: A wide skillet with high sides is ideal for all kinds of stovetop cooking. I use mine for everything from eggs to pan frying.

  7. Mini-Chopper: I could not live without with my mini chopper. It saves a lot of time when it comes to making dressings, dips, and pureeing ingredients for soup.

  8. Nutri-bullet: We drink a lot of smoothies in the morning and this is the best product I’ve found for making them nice and smooth.

  9. Glass bowls: A set of classic nesting bowls has served me well for years. I use every sized bowl for different things. They wash easily in the dishwasher and are very durable.

  10. Mesh strainer: A strainer can be used for draining hot water, eggplants, and squeezing water out of spinach. There are so many uses for it! Be sure to get one with a hook opposite the handle so you can hang it over a mixing bowl.

If you watch my Youtube episodes you’ll see these utensils make very frequent appearances! I’m happy to share any more details about them if you have questions. Simply leave a comment and I’ll answer.

Happy cooking!
