I’ve made so many different snacks and treats for Halloween parties over the years. I find the kids never want anything fancy, but they do like it when it’s a little creative and nothing they’ve ever seen before. This Spooky Halloween Party was a favorite last year and this year I have cute little cauldrons to serve it in.

To make this popcorn you can start with fresh popped corn, or popcorn from the store. Then you toss it with melted butter, salt, chocolate, and candy to turn it into a savory and sweet treat that begs to be set out in bowls around any Halloween gathering.

If you have to make a large amount to serve a lot of people you can make this in advanced and store it in airtight big plastic bags until you’re ready to serve it. You’ll see here I put the popcorn in adorable mini cauldrons I found at the store. But you can also serve it in huge bowls, or portion it into individual cardboard popcorn boxes or bags.

Spooky Halloween Popcorn Mix

It’s really fun to have recipes like this to lean into at Halloween parties. This is easy to pull together and always fun for the kids when they’re hanging out with friends!

Ingredients (makes 6–8 servings)

  • 10 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)

  • 1 cup candy corn or orange and black candies

  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips or candy eyes

  • ¼ cup melted white or dark chocolate (optional, for drizzle)

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Place popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl. Remove unpopped kernels.

  2. Drizzle melted butter over popcorn and sprinkle a pinch of salt. Toss to coat.

  3. Add candy corn or other orange/black candies.

  4. Drizzle melted chocolate over the popcorn and toss lightly to distribute.

  5. Sprinkle mini candy eyes or other Halloween-themed sprinkles for a fun effect.

  6. Serve in a large bowl or portion into small cups for individual serving
