Since I’m in the entertaining business I have a lot of great appetizer recipes up my sleeve. I make these at home for our family and guests, and we often translate these recipes to be made for larger groups in the catering kitchen at work. Phyllo wrapped feta cheese is one of those recipes that’s a snap to make at home, and also works really well for crowds if you need to make several.
This recipe only requires five ingredients and today you’ll see that I’m using my favorite products from 776 Deluxe to make it. Their phyllo is some of the best I’ve ever worked with, it doesn’t tear and tastes incredible when baked. To add a fun twist to the flavor of the feta I top it with a little Spicy Mango jam. It lends a wonderful sweet heat flavor to contrast with the salty feta.
After the feta is baked in the oven, I finish it off with a drizzle with fresh honey to complete the sweet and savory flavor profile. Then, it is served with wedges of fresh grilled pita and it tastes incredible. You’ll love making this easy appetizer for your family, it is absolutely wonderful and very easy.
If you don’t have the Mango jam swap it for something similar like apricot or orange. Enjoy!
Baked Feta with Phyllo
This is a delicious appetizer that features the yummiest jam from 776. The Mango Cayenne Jam pairs beautifully with the creamy, salty feta cheese. This comes together very quickly and is always a hit with guests.
Makes 1 serving that will feed several guests
1 sheet Phyllo
8 oz block of Feta
2 tbsp Mango Cayenne Jam from 776
2 tbsp melted butter
776 Orange Blossom Honey to drizzle on top
Grilled pita for serving
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Unfold the phyllo and butter the phyllo sheets.
Butter the phyllo and then fold in half butter again.
Place the block of feta in the middle of the butter phyllo and top it with the jam.
Fold the phyllo around the block of feta and seal it completely. Brush the top with the remaining butter.
Place the prepared phyllo on a lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Allow the feta to cool slightly, then drizzle it with a touch of honey for sweetness.
Serve with grilled pita.
