Classic S'mores Bars

I mean, who doesn’t adored S’mores in the summer?! I know that my family does! Today I’m sharing a recipe for Classic S’more Bars, which are basically S’mores in a bar form. You can finally make them without the campfire! These do take a couple of more ingredients than regular S’mores because you need a graham cracker crust instead of just graham crackers, but that’s really the main difference.

To get started making these line your baking sheet with parchment paper. It might seem like overkill to emphasize this, but you really want to make sure that the bars are easy to lift out of the pan and cut. There’s nothing worse than going through all the trouble of baking s’mores bars only to have them get stuck in the pan! Then, make the crust and press it in until very solid and bake it until nice and toasted

Once the crust is made, you’re almost done! Scatter the chocolate chips and marshmallows on top and you’re good to go after one more pass in the oven. There have been times when I’ve used chopped up Hershey bars instead of chocolate chips and they’ve tasted amazing, too. Either way, you really can’t go wrong. You’ll absolutely love the final result.

In the oven the chocolate chips will melt and the marshmallows will be nice and toasty just like they’ve been close to the fire. Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool a little bit before cutting. You’ll need a really sharp knife to cut these precisely. Serve them up to people on plates or just let them eat with their hands. Sometimes I put a square into a bowl and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with some hot fudge and it makes the most decadent dessert.

You’ll love this wonderful dessert; it really is a great spin on a summer favorite!

Classic S'mores Bars

These bars are a delicious and easy way to enjoy all the flavors of a s'more without needing a campfire!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 15 graham crackers)

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bars)

  • 1 bag (10 oz) marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well until everything is evenly combined and smooth. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

  4. Once the crust is cool, spread the chocolate chips evenly over the top.

  5. Top the chocolate chips with marshmallows.

  6. Bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown and toasted and the chocolate is melted.

  7. Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
